So if you lost your phone that has your Google Authenticator codes in it you can still get into your account so long as you have the backup codes. Backup codes offer a way for you to get into your account in case you don’t have your 2FA device. Note: If you do not have access to your backup codes, we are unable to remove 2FA and you will have to create a new account. The backup codes don’t relate to the QR code when setting up Google Authenticator. You can also use an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Duo as your backup solution. When you regenerate backup codes, any remaining codes from before are no longer valid. Now that 2FA has been disabled, you'll be able to enable it again with your new device!
